Visa

No. National visas - necessary for longer stays - can only be applied for at the diplomatic missions of the Federal Republic of Germany.

Schengen visas (valid for three to six months) can only be applied for at the diplomatic missions of the Schengen states.

In these cases, you must submit a declaration of commitment to the foreigners authority stating that you will cover the costs of living and the costs of a possible enforcement of the foreigner's departure (deportation).

In doing so, you undertake to cover all costs incurred by the state for the duration of the foreigner's stay that are not based on a contribution payment (e.g. living expenses, health costs, flight ticket).

  • Valid official identification (identity card, passport)
  • Proof of income for the last three months of the recipient of the visit (salary statement, pension statement, unemployment benefit statement, unemployment benefit II, etc.), for self-employed persons and freelancers: the last income statement and current certificate from the tax advisor on the monthly profit
  • Rental contract or, in the case of owner-occupied homes, the land register extract or the purchase contract
