Lahr Integration Tandem

The 'Lahr Integration Tandem' invites interested locals, foreigners with German citizenship, and ethnic German resettlers to become a part of a particular approach to civic engagement.

The aim is to provide temporary support to newly-arrived adult immigrants from all over the world – from weekly chats to help them with settling in and extra help with language courses to assistance with reading and writing texts and accompanying them on visits to government offices.

For example, the project supports single mothers, young people and migrants who may have lived in Lahr for some time but still need help to integrate further.

An integration tandem comprises a volunteer and an individual requiring support.

The VHS also offers volunteer tandem partners the chance to attend special further education courses. You can read about one person's personal experience of further education here.

The 'Lahr Integration Tandem' is a joint project by VHS and the Office for Social Affairs, Schools and Sport.
