The trail heads off across fields and meadows, from Wittenweier along the Rhine plains. In Kappel, it's worth taking a detour by ferry to Rhinau, and the gateway to the Taubergiessen nature reserve. If you have enough time, and are fit enough, you have a choice of several cycle routes from there. If you wish to visit the Europa Park, you can easily travel between Lahr and Rust, even without a car.
Stiftskirche (Collegiate Church)
Take the ‘Schuttertal-Rhein’ cycle path from the Stiftskirche (Collegiate Church), follow the Schutter relief canal to Allmannsweier, head left and keep following the signs for Rust. At the main junction, turn left towards Ringsheim and then – note! – there are no signs - turn left on the Ludwigstrasse to Grafenhausen. After the church, turn left, keeping to the Ortenau cycle route, and back to Lahr.
Bathing lakes in Nonnenweier, Kappel and Kippenheimweiler, Europa-Park in Rust, optional detour to Mahlberg to the Tobacco Museum (Sundays and public holidays)
