Dorotheenhütte Wolfach

Ein lohnendes Ausflugsziel von der Stadt Lahr aus ist die Dorotheenhütte in Wolfach. Ein kleines Mädchen mit blonden Haaren steht auf einer Holzkiste und bläst in ein langes Rohr, an dessen Ende eine Vase entsteht. Hilfe erhält sie von einem Glasbläser, der rechts neben ihr steht und das Blasrohr hält.

Glass-blowing and the Black Forest glass works enjoy a long tradition that dates back many centuries. The Dorotheenhütte in Wolfach is the only manufacturing operation that still practises the time-honoured and fascinating craft of glass-blowing by mouth, and grinding glass by hand.

It is incredibly interesting to watch the glass-blowers at work, both blowing into the glass and grinding it.

You can even blow your very own personal, belly-shaped piece of art, under the expert instruction of a master craftsman.

A further attraction is the year-round Christmas village, with its lovingly decorated little huts and market stalls.
