The German and French European consumer centres, both based in Kehl in Germany, and part of a Europe-wide network, provide advice on cross-border and European consumer protection, as well as offering support in settling consumer disputes out of court. These might include the failure to deliver a product ordered from another EU country, a dispute with an airline, or a warranty claim in relation to a defective holiday souvenir.
Consumers in the Baden-Württemberg/Alsace border region can also access the centre's on-site services.
Furthermore, once a month, German and French lawyers and tax consultants also provide free advice on buying property in the respective neighbouring country.
Cross-border patient advice is available if you have questions regarding the payment of costs arising from medical treatments abroad.
The E-Commerce Liaison Office Germany will help you with questions concerning Internet law, including online shopping tips, secure payment of online purchases and the legal aspects of running a business online.
All these services provide online information at www.cec-zev.eu. You can also have a personal consultation via email, over the telephone, and during the consulting hours.
