The city of Lahr as an employer

As “Große Kreisstadt”, it’s the nucleus of the Ortenau district; moreover it’s an important secondary centre between Freiburg and Strasbourg. That’s why Lahr administrates a widely-diversified range of functions.
The city administration of Lahr thus also employs people across a range of sectors, including social welfare, cultural, construction, technology and general administration.

It also offers training positions in various professional fields, and the opportunity to complete an internship with the city administration, or a voluntary social year.

Lahr city administration is divided into three departments, and employs over 700 people. The facilities companies 'Bau- und Gartenbetrieb Lahr (BGL)' (for buildings and gardens), 'Bäder, Versorgung und Verkehr' (for swimming baths, utilities and traffic) and 'Abwasserbeseitigung' (for sewage disposal) are affiliated to the city administration as independent organisations.
