German courses

The Volkshochschule (VHS) Lahr, which is a public educational centre, offers a range of German courses.

The Federal Office for Migration and Refugees (BAMF) does not provide financial support for the following courses. You are entitled to a 50 per discount if you have a LahrPass. A discount of maximum EUR 50.00 may apply if you are claiming social security benefits (SGB II or SGB XII). Further information is available from the VHS office.

The individual courses:

German A1.1

This course is for participants with no knowledge of German. You will spend two evenings a week learning to read, write, and in particular, to speak German. Coursebook: Schritte plus Neu 1.

German A1.2

This course is for participants with very little prior knowledge. You will learn to read, write, and in particular, to speak German. Coursebook: Schritte plus Neu 1, from Unit 5/6.

German A2.1

This course is for students with prior knowledge of the basics. You will spend two evenings a week learning to read, write, and in particular, to speak German. Coursebook: Schritte plus 3. Please complete an assessment test before enrolling, and include the result with your enrolment:

'Deutsch für den Beruf' (German for work)

This course is for students with basic to good prior knowledge who want to practise and improve their language skills in the areas of speaking, writing, grammar and vocabulary in a specific professional context. An assessment test is mandatory before enrolling on the course.

German B1.1

This course is for students with good prior knowledge (at A2.2 level). This course will improve your language skills in the areas of speaking, writing, grammar and vocabulary. An assessment test is mandatory before enrolling on the course.
