Worthwhile excursions
Not that we wish to tempt you away from Lahr, but it would be a shame not to visit the Black Forest and Alsace while you stay with us. Lahr lies in the middle of a landscape that has virtually everything to offer: from the sunny Rhine Valley to the vineyards of the pre-highland landscape of the Black Forest, right up to the forest itself, home of the famous costume with the pom-pom hat. Relaxation in unspoilt nature, romantic half-timbered villages and sophisticated urban culture, rejuvenation in the healthy climate of the Black Forest, numerous sport and leisure opportunities, local traditions, a broad cultural program and, not least, culinary delights, are typical of Lahr and the region.
There is much to see and experience: The Black Forest open-air museum at the “Vogtsbauernhof" in Gutach, in the Kinzig Valley, the German Clock Museum in Furtwangen, the glassworks Dorotheenhütte in Wolfach, the waterfalls in Triberg, a drive along the Black Forest Highway to the Mummel Lake or a visit to one of the world’s most beautiful leisure parks, the Europa-Park Rust – these are just a few examples of the ways you can get to know the region. A drive along Baden´s Wine Route displays the whole diversity of wine-growing. Excursions to Strasbourg and neighboring Alsace, along with a stroll in Baden-Baden oder Freiburg complement the plentiful tourism options available.
Have fun exploring!
