As the largest Figure Theater Festival in Baden, the „PuppenParade“ assembles puppeteers from far and wide for ten days at a time in March with an exciting program not only for children. And that from every genre of Figure Theater.

The unparalleled concert series in Germany "Songs ‘n‘ Singers“ presents representatives of the international Singer/Songwriter scene in the "Schlachthof". Supplemented by international highlights from musicals, modern dance, cabaret, variety show and artistry genres - everything is offered for the interests of young and old.

In the season from September to May, in addition to the Theater series, the Office of Culture stages a special "Boulevard-Theater" series, which also includes operettas and musicals, as well as the “Symphony Concert” series with three big symphony concerts in the town hall. Avail yourself of the low-priced subscriptions, which are obtainable for these series at the Lahr KulTourBuero. The series “Potzblitz! Kultur for Kids” presents theater and musicals especially for children and this age group.

The Office of Culture collaborates in the form of cooperation with the promoters of culture and the artists in order to boost and present the city's “treasures.” Collaboration and the use of synergistic effects are concepts, which in addition to the Office of Culture are palpably vitalized by all creative people, artists, and culture organizations, in Lahr.

The fine arts are represented on a high level in the City Gallery in the Old City Hall as well as in private galleries. Furthermore, about twenty artists from Lahr open their studios every year in November for a weekend for the “KunstVisite Lahr”.

The City Library – a modern facility in an historic building – offers a challenging choice of media for every taste and every age, books, newspapers, magazines, videos, CDs, DVDs, CD-ROMs. With its fully differentiated specialized and reference book inventory, it is the central student library for Lahr and the surrounding area. Well-known male and female authors are here as guests and come upon an open-minded public.

The City Music School, widely known for its excellent educational work, provides training in all of the important instrumental subjects as well as ensemble and orchestral play.

City museums and the City Archives are devoted to the history of Lahr and galvanize a revival of the past in exhibitions, projects, and guided tours.

The “KulTourBüro” operated by the Office of Culture is available in a central location to the citizens and guests of the city as a modern information and advance booking center. Here tourists also receive information, an accommodation bureau, programs, postcards, and prospectuses about the surrounding area and the nearby Alsace.
